Sammy Gyamfi, the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) national communication officer, has disclosed that if the NDC wins the 2024 election, the E-levy will be abolished. He made the statement while speaking on the Joy TV station in Accra.
He remarked that just because they are denouncing it now does not mean that when they gain power, they will continue to do what they have decried as being wrong. To be honest, they are not opposed to taxation, but the E-levy is a form of open robbery or extortion of money from Ghanaians, which is not acceptable.
Additional than the E-levy, the government has other options for generating revenue.
Ghanaians who believe both the NDC and the NPP are the same also expressed their thoughts on the topic. Some feel Sammy Gyamfi is stating this to curry favor with the public, and that they will not revoke it if they gain power. When Nana Addo ran for office, he promised to decrease taxes by a certain percentage and do a number of other things, yet here we are today. Things are even worse than they were before, thus Ghanaians should not believe Sammy Gyamfi.
