Twofold best on the planet Fernando Alonso on Friday said he intended to continue to race for somewhere around a few years more, denying feeling strain to move to one side for a more youthful driver.

The 40-year-old Spaniard is in his second term with French group Alpine close by Esteban Ocon, with profoundly evaluated prospect Oscar Piastri their hold driver and thumping on the entryway.

Australian Piastri, 21, is broadly tipped for advancement next season, whether with Alpine or another group. Yet, Alonso demanded that as long as he was performing great, he had no worries.

"I think clearly in the event that I was 25 there would clearly not be this discussion, it's an age thing," he said in Melbourne in front of Sunday's Australian Grand Prix.

"However, I think this is about execution. Last year I figure I got along admirably. This year, we should perceive how it goes, yet it is about execution and not age."

Alonso made his F1 debut in 2001 and brought home the big showdown in 2005 and 2006.

After north of 300 grands prix, he took a break from Formula One, coming out on top for the World Endurance Championship and the Le Mans 24 hours race in 2018 and 2019.

Presently, thinking back to the F1 enclosure, he said he stayed hungry for more achievement.

"I think I actually feel serious and quick and I'm partaking in my time in Formula One, so I will race I surmise a couple more years, a few additional years," he said.

"Assuming it's with Alpine it will be great, on the off chance that it's with another group it will be great too.

"I'll begin these conversations likely in the mid year."
