Former Minister of Power Dr Kwabena Donkor's allegations that Ghana is on the verge of reverting to the dreadful days of irregular power outages known as Dumsor have been denied by the Energy Ministry.

Dumsor will return in the next two years, according to the Pru East MP, if the government fails to solve the issue of power generation capacity.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that dumsor, which has plagued the country in the past, was never about generational capability.

Poor hydrology, according to them, was caused by overdrafting of hydro dams, insufficient fuel supply to thermal plants, and financial difficulties.

As a result, it claims that Dumsor will not be built based on expected demand and responsible energy sector management.

"There is now sensible management of hydro resources, which includes the hybridisation of Ghana's hydro dams, in order to solve the issue of inadequate hydrology."

"Gas flow is no longer unidirectional," the statement reads, "since there is a reverse flow of indigenous natural gas from the West to the East to power turbines."
