Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe, and Salah are among the best 100 players of the twenty-first century.
If there's one thing football fans adore in this world, it's a good argument.
On a Saturday afternoon, you won't be able to go to a pub without hearing a supporter from one club tell a fan from another club that their players are superior.
So, in order to settle this once and for all, the staff at FourFourTwo has ranked the 100 best players of the twenty-first century.
The list is bound to spark some debate, and ironically, even more debate, so let's get right to it and not waste any more of your time.
The list of footballers ranked from 81st to 100th is quite intriguing, with a mix of current players and former top performers, as shown below.
Interestingly, six of the top 20 players listed from 81 to 100 either currently play for Manchester United or have previously played for the club, demonstrating the Red Devils' supremacy since 2000.
Mr. Ryan Giggs
The next 20 names make for interesting reading as well, with 11 of the players rated, including as Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane, still playing in the Premier League.
Fabregas, Cesc
There is often dispute regarding who is the better Premier League centre-back, between Nemanja Vidic, Virgil van Dijk, and John Terry, but FourFourTwo has answered that by ranking them in the 60th, 54th, and 44th positions, respectively.
The ranking also reflects Man City's recent supremacy, with three of the names placed 41st to 60th having played for the blue half of Manchester.
Nemanja Vidic (60), David Villa (59), Eden Hazard (58), Roberto Carlos (56), Paul Scholes (55), Angel Di Maria (54), Virgil van Dijk (54).
52. Radamel Falcao 51. Antoine Griezmann 50. Petr Cech 49. Pavel Nedved 48. Xabi Alonso 47. Kevin de Bruyne 46. Carlos Puyol 45. Yaya Toure 44. John Terry 43. Toni Kroos Luis Figo (42nd) Vincent Kompany (41st)
Van Dijk, Virgil
Didier Drogba, Sergio Aguero, and Gareth Bale are among the next 15 names on the list, which is rated from 26th to 40th.
This section likewise has a strong Chelsea contingent, with four of the 15 names included having previously played for the London club.
Didier Drogba (40), Frank Ribery (39), Francesco Totti (37), Patrick Vieira (36), Frank Lampard (35), Gianluigi Buffon (34), Claude Makelee (33), Andrea Pirlo (32), Rio Ferdinand (31), Andriy Shevchenko (30), Sergio Busquets (29), Gareth Bale (28), Robert Lewandowski (27), Iker Casillas (26), Sergio
Ferdinand, Rio
Now we're getting down to business, with players aged 11 to 25 being ranked, so expect to see some of the best players to ever step onto a pitch, with eight of the 15 still playing today.
Neymar (25th)
Gerard Pique (24th)
Ashley Cole (no. 23)
Arjen Robben 22. Steven Gerrard 21. Thomas Muller 20.
Sergio Ramos (19th)
17. Ronaldo (R9) 16. Wayne Rooney 18. Philipp Lahm
15. Luka Modric 14. Samuel Eto'o
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (13), Dani Alves (12), and Karim Benzema (11).
The final 10 will almost certainly cause a stir, particularly among Team Messi and Team Ronaldo supporters.
Furthermore, such has been Spanish football's domination over the last 21 years that only one of the top ten players (Manuel Neuer) did not play for either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Messi, Lionel
