Liverpool are close to signing Villarreal's Arnaut Danjuma
They see the winger as a natural replacement for Sadio Mané and may not make a move until 2023.
Liverpool are interested in signing Villarreal midfielder Arnaut Danjuma, but are unlikely to make a bid this summer.
Since joining from Bournemouth last year, the Netherlands international has thrived in Spain.
Danjuma has scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 28 appearances in La Liga and the Champions League this season.
The Liverpool club has taken note of the 25-year-impressive old's performances for the Spanish club.
GOAL and Spox can confirm that the Reds see Danjuma as a possible successor to Sadio Mane, who could leave for free in the summer of 2023 if his current contract is not extended.
If Mane does leave the club next year, the club could sanction a bid to bring Danjuma in.
Danjuma has been a standout for Villarreal this season, as he is the club's joint-top scorer in La Liga and their most prolific in the Champions League.
His sprinting ability and strength have been impressive, and he has already spent two seasons in England with Bournemouth.
Danjuma soars with Villarreal.
Danjuma stated this week that he believes he is one of the best wingers in the world, telling The Guardian that "it's quite fair and factual to say I'm among the best wingers in the world."
This week, Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann praised the winger.
Villarreal will face Nagelsmann's side in a Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday, and the German was asked who his team's biggest threat is.
"He's a very dangerous striker who can always be tipped out onto the left wing," Nagelsmann said of Danjuma.
He moves well, has good pace, and is comparable to a top European player."
