The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has expressed that it will meet with the Ministry of Transport on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, to decide the level of expansion in transport charges.

There had been a previous gathering on Monday between the GPRTU and different associations to talk about the way forward on the increment of transport tolls following ongoing climbs in fuel costs.

Modern Relations Officer of GPTRU, Abass Imoro, in a Citi News interview expressed that a 15% extra augmentation is being proposed by the associations.

"Since we are delaying it, we mean to emerge with nothing under 15% except for the present we haven't authoritatively declared it. We need to swallow it until after Tuesday's gathering," he said.

This addition assuming carried out will be the second time this year that Transport tolls had expanded after a 15% percent in February 2021.

This was because of the expansion in fuel costs which was ascribed to the Russia-Ukraine emergency and the cedi's deterioration.
