Ghana, Accra –
Acting Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Ghana, Janean Davis, announced $24.7 million in additional financing for Ghana today as part of the Initiative for Global Vaccine Access (Global VAX).
The money from USAID will help to speed up the distribution of safe and effective COVID-19 immunizations throughout Ghana.
Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, Director General of the Ghana Health Service, and senior Ghana Health Service officials joined USAID Ghana Acting Mission Director Janean Davis to make the announcement at the Greater Accra Regional (Ridge) Hospital.
The group went on a tour of the hospital's maternity department, highlighting the importance of getting pregnant women vaccinated as well.
