Following Thpmas Tuchel and his boys abysmal showing twice  consecutively at the stamford bridge, which saw the reigning european champions bag seven goals in two games in front of their fans and in their own backyard, the Bluess set to atone for their "sins" away from home at Southampton.

With the Southampton managing welcoming the news of the dip in form of the european champions and the opportunity to further add salt in  to the already painfully wounded Chelsea side, admited this was the right time to play chelsea and possibly try to earn all three points at their back yard.

Thomas Tuchel and his  Chelsea team however had different plans and aim which was to use Southampton to prepare for their revenge second leg against Real Madrid and also to use Southampton to regain the trust and faith of their fans.

This worked as planned as the Wounded Chelsea side began to run riots from the outset of the match, with Marcus Alonso providing the first goal of the day assissted by non other than the chelsea's player of the year Mason Mount as early as the 8th minute of play.

Mount  got himself on the score sheet 8 minutes after assissting Alonso making it two against Southampton in the 16th minute.

All seemsed wraped up as earl as in the 21st minute when the German attacker Timo Werner made it three for chelsea in the 31st minute, he could have pulled a second but was denied by the woodwork, non the less his German compatriot and big game player Kai Lucas Havertz was at the end to convert the rebound from Timo Werner puting Chelsea four goals ahead of Southampton at the 31st minute.

Second half kicks off and the height of the mountain southampton has to climb to get back to the game is in in the 49th minute as Timo Werner, the attacker who's career seemed to has ended pulled out another brilliant strike to put chelsea five ahead of Southampton.

A very good game for the German maestro today at st Mary's.

As if that was not enough, Mason Mount pulled a clean finish in the 54th minute making the mountain unmountable for Southampton in their own backyard.

Madrid will have to be on high alert in order to guarantee their qualification to the next stage of the champions league as a similar energy and output in madrid as seen here at Southampton will be a detrimental fiesco for the Spanish giants.

A message well sent to Real Madrid, not to feel too confortable with the UEFA champions league first leg result as this scenes at St Marys could be seen at Santiago Bernabau in their return leg clash.

Four goals at the break seems almost an impossible mountain for Southampton to climb in the second half.

This could be one of those games where Southampton get thrashed beyound their immagination.
