Everton manager Frank Lampard has hailed his team's tough 1-0 victory over Manchester United as a boost to their Premier League survival chances
The Toffees won a key match against United to move four points clear of the relegation zone.
Everton fought on for all three points courtesy to crucial saves from Jordan Pickford in the first half as Anthony Gordon's strike deflected home off United captain Harry Maguire.
It was Everton's first Premier League victory in four games, and a decent way to rebound after a humiliating 3-2 loss to relegation rivals Burnley the last time out.
'I'm quite pleased with myself.
With the reality of the situation, these are difficult times, but we've been good at Goodison, with a fifth win in seven and clean sheets,' Lampard told BT Sport.
'Away from home, it's a different story, but when the players and fans all come together, we're tough to beat.'
'We have a lot of work to do.
It's a one-win situation.
We should have had a result last week; you sit there thinking, "If only," but you have to keep pushing when things go against you.
'It's not easy waking up after Burnley, but it's my responsibility to lift everyone.'
It's only one victory, and we still have a lot of work to do.'
At Goodison Park, opponents United were unable to break them down, to to the disappointment of interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
'You have to be disappointed if you don't score a single goal in 95 minutes,' Rangnick remarked.
'We got off to a good start; we controlled the game for 25 minutes and should have taken advantage of that dominance to create more chances.'
'Then we gave up a deflected shot and lost a fraction of our poise and stride.'
'We tried to be more creative in the second half, but we didn't always find the perfect moment or make the right decision.'
