The home of a nine-member visually handicapped family in Buduburam, Gomoa East District, Central Region, has been destroyed by a raging fire.

Several of the family's belongings were destroyed in the fire.

The tragedy happened on Saturday, but no one knows what caused it.

George Twum Barimaa, who spoke on behalf of the family in an interview with Adom News, pleaded for immediate help.

According to him, any form of assistance will be greatly appreciated by the family and will go a long way in assisting them.

Meanwhile, Henry Hammond, the Ghana National Fire Service's Buduburam Station Officer, described the situation as "sad and tragic."

He claimed that the visually handicapped family members attempted to flee the blazing building on their own.
