Arsenal and Spurs to battle for £60million Leicester City star this summer
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are set to compete in the summer for Leicester City star James Maddison, who is valued at £60 million.
According to The Sun, Arsenal will compete with Tottenham for the signing of James Maddison this summer.
Maddison, 25, has only two years left on his Leicester City contract and has been linked with a move to Arsenal since last year.
According to reports, Mikel Arteta will make another attempt to sign Maddison at the end of the season, but he will have to beat out Spurs, who are also interested in his services.
Maddison has had one of his best goalscoring seasons to date, scoring 13 times for the Foxes this season.
Arsenal has struggled to score goals in the same way to the numbers bagged by their rivals and Maddison's inventiveness and scoring prowess would inject much-needed vigour into their attack.
Following his team's defeat to Brighton, manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged the need for his team to score more goals and said earlier this week that he expects another busy summer at the Emirates.
Maddison is expected to cost around £60 million as Brendan Rodgers looks to re-invest in his team after a disappointing season.
Rodgers admitted earlier this year that some players may leave Leicester at the end of the season.
'Now my job is to keep provoking and developing the club and the squad,' he said.
