Cristiano Ronaldo may have gotten himself into trouble after appearing to slap a fan's phone out of his hand after Manchester United's defeat.
After a 1-0 loss at Goodison Park, the Portuguese international was captured on camera making his way down to the tunnel.
According to BBC Sport, the former Real Madrid star has since apologized for the incident and invited the fan in question to be his guest at a future Old Trafford match.
Sky Sports has provided the following video clip, which you can watch below:
The Portuguese star appeared enraged after the final whistle, owing in part to an injury he sustained in the closing stages. Ronaldo was seen with a bleeding shin after a strong tackle – and he was not in the mood to be taunted by the home fans.
As he storms down the tunnel at Goodison Park, Ronaldo appears to smash a supporter's outstretched phone into the tarmac, according to a video posted on Twitter. Ronaldo can be seen stomping down the tunnel with a shin pad in his left hand, while his right hand is clenched into a fist and lashes out.
Ronaldo later explained his actions, saying, "It's never easy to deal with emotions in difficult situations like the one we're in." Nonetheless, we must always be respectful, patient, and set a good example for all of the young people who enjoy the beautiful game.
"I apologize for my outburst and, if possible, invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship."
