Three youngsters have drowned in a pond dug by sand winners in Akwasa Hills near Tuba in the Greater Accra Region's Ga South Municipality.
The youngsters were playing with their bicycles in the neighborhood when they fell into the trench, according to sources.
They couldn't get out of the water-filled entrance, though. Elisha Adu, 12, and his 9-year-old brother, Samuel Adjei Mensah alias Tawiah, as well as Isaac Amoah, 8, were killed.
The remains were transported to the Police Hospital in Accra by the Weija Divisional Police Command ahead of the autopsy.
Some of the people who assisted in the retrieval of the youngsters from the abandoned dam told Adom News that multiple complaints about the canker had been filed with the Ga South Municipal Assembly.
However, thus far, the cries have gone unheard. Sorrow is the prevalent emotion at the boys' homes, with family members joined in sobbing over the loss. Elisha and Samuel's mother is taken aback by the news.
Esther Dankwaa is the mother of Isaac, an 8-year-old victim who was also left traumatized. Nii Akadja, the area's chief, expressed his displeasure with officials' apparent disdain for locals' wellbeing.
