Three toddlers perished in a hole in Akwasa Hills near Tuba in the Greater Accra region's Ga South Municipality.
Elisha Adu, 12, Samuel Adjei Mensah, 9, and their buddy, 8-year-old Isaac Amoah, were killed.
The deceased were playing near an abandoned hole left by persons performing illicit sand weaning in the region, according to reports.
The event was blamed on the Ga South Municipal Assembly, according to the area's chief, Nii Akadja.
Efforts to get the Assembly to cover the pit and halt the sand weaning in the region have failed, he claimed.
The boys' bereaved parents are still coming to grips with their children's untimely deaths.
Meanwhile, the deceased's remains have been deposited.
