Thomas Tuchel delivers an update on Romelu Lukaku following his absence from Chelsea FC's win against Southampton on Saturday.

Romelu Lukaku is still a doubt for Chelsea FC's Champions League match against Real Madrid on Tuesday night, according to Thomas Tuchel.

The Belgian striker was not in the Blues lineup on Saturday as Tuchel's team cruised to a 6-0 victory against Southampton, avenging losses at the hands of Brentford and Real Madrid.

Lukaku has been suffering from Achilles soreness and it is unknown whether he would be eligible for selection when Chelsea FC travel to Madrid for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final match.

Tuchel appeared to throw doubt on Lukaku's readiness for the trip to Spain after Chelsea FC's 6-0 Premier League triumph at St Mary's.

Tuchel stated of Lukaku after the win, "He [Lukaku] wasn't in training yesterday [Friday], he was in too much discomfort."

"We don't have much time, we just have two training sessions, and we leave the nation on Monday." We'll have to wait since I don't have an answer right now."

Lukaku is yet to reach his best form for Chelsea FC after joining from Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old has scored 10 goals in 33 appearances for the south west London club this season and will be looking to improve on that total in the remaining few weeks of the season.

Tuchel noted before the trip to St Mary's that Lukaku still has a lot of potential for development.
