After Imran Khan was ousted in a no-confidence vote early Sunday, Pakistan's parliament will choose a new prime minister on Monday.

The head of an opposition alliance that attempted to topple Mr Khan, Shahbaz Sharif, is generally predicted to win a majority of the vote.

Around 14:00 local time, parliamentary vote will take place (09:00GMT).

After days of political turmoil and Supreme Court intervention, Mr Khan, 69, was voted out.

By dissolving parliament and announcing a quick election, he sought to thwart a prior attempt to bring a no-confidence resolution against him.

The country's Supreme Court, on the other hand, upheld an opposition petition alleging that his actions were unlawful and ordered the election to proceed.
