On Monday, Austria's chancellor will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time since authorizing the invasion of Ukraine, amid threats of a new offensive and bombardment in the east.

The conference will be held in Moscow, according to Karl Nehammer, and Austria has a "clear position on Russia's war of aggression," calling for humanitarian corridors, a ceasefire, and a full investigation of war crimes.

The UK Ministry of Defence cautioned on Monday morning that as the battle for Mariupol develops, Russian forces may turn to employing phosphorus munitions.

It referenced Russian military' earlier use of the explosives in Donetsk.

On the ground, Russian soldiers fired missiles and artillery at sites in eastern Ukraine.
