Mrs. Barbara Asempa, a catechist of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Redemption Congregation in Tema Community Nine, has warned Christian youngsters against claiming other people's value with prayers without first trying to earn their own.

"If you don't work hard, you won't make it," Mrs. Asempa remarked on Palm Sunday when she lectured on the theme "Suffering for a Purpose" and warned the youth. Stop claiming people's vehicles and houses while they are unemployed; it doesn't work that way."

She stated it was terrible that today's Christians believed Christianity was solely about affluence and rapid miracles, but that was not what the Bible indicated since the texts demonstrated that all of the great individuals in the Bible, like Abraham, Paul, Ruth, and others, suffered.

Christians must go forth prepared to suffer for the Lord, she said, just as a mother goes through labor pains and rejoices when she sees her kid without remembering the agony before it, and God will pull them up and pave a path for them.

She exhorted Christians to persevere through the necessary challenges if they wanted to reach the pinnacle.

Mrs Asempa stated that, just as gold is subjected to painful and laborious processes in order to remove impurities and make it more valuable, Christians, like Christ, must be willing to go through similar trials.

"You can't live a Christian life without passing through fire; if you want to shine like gold, you'll have to go through the process."
