WE’VE NOT PRESCRIBED UNIFORMS FOR TEACHERS – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has denied assertions made on social media that the country's teachers are required to wear uniforms.

Pictures of people masquerading as instructors wearing what looks to be a new uniform for service employees abound on social media, particularly Facebook.

However, in an interview with Kasapa FM on Sunday, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof Opoku Amankwah, asked the public to disregard such stories as untrue.

“The GES has not prescribed any uniforms. Folks should check to see if the people posed in those photos are indeed Ghanaian instructors.

"When GES suggests anything, we don't post it on social media because we have nothing to do with it," he explained.

Prof Opoku-Amankwah described the move as an attempt by some anonymous individuals to smear the GES's reputation.
