Ghanaians, particularly those in Sefwi-Kafukaa and the surrounding areas, have been urged to cut back on funerals and other social events. Rather, families have been urged to put money aside for their children's education in order to ensure a better future for them.

During the 2022 Annual Yam Festival, Nana Kyere ll, Chief of Sefwi - Kafukaa, presented the advise in his palace.

"As we all know, the cocoa trees are dying, and we have no choice but to invest in our children's education so that they will be able to look after us when we are old," he urged.

Nana Kyere also warned his people not to cut down trees on cocoa fields since the trees provided shade and protection to the cocoa trees. He went on to say that removing trees on their cocoa plantations exposed the trees to the light, so he pushed them to grow more trees instead.
