Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly 'assaulted' a boy during an Everton-Manchester United match

Cristiano Ronaldo has apologized for his "outburst" as he exited the pitch following Manchester United's defeat to Everton, in which he appeared to knock a fan's phone out of his hand.

Ronaldo had returned to the Red Devils' starting lineup and played the entire 90-minute loss at Goodison Park.

Following the game, footage on social media appeared to show the Portuguese star knocking a phone out of the hand of an Everton supporter and onto the ground as he walked off towards the tunnel.

Later, Ronaldo apologized on his personal Instagram account and invited the fan to watch a game at Old Trafford "as a sign of  fair-play and sportsmanship”.

"It's never easy dealing with emotions in difficult situations like the one we're in," Ronaldo said. "However, we must always be respectful, patient, and set an example for all the young people who love the beautiful game." "I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship."

Sarah Kelly, the mother of the young supporter Jake, told the Liverpool Echo about the incident.

"At full-time, the Manchester United players began walking off," she claimed. We were in the Park End, so we were right next to the tunnel where they were walking by – my son was filming them all.

"He filmed all of the United players as they walked through." Then he put down his phone because Ronaldo had pulled his sock down and his leg was bleeding. He lowered his phone to see what it was and didn't say anything. Ronaldo then simply walked by with a terrible, terrible temper, smashed the phone out of my son's hand, and continued walking."

Mrs Kelly showed the Liverpool Echo photos of her son's hand, which appeared to be bruised. "You can see by the bruise that he made contact," she added. I can't believe I'm even talking about it."

"I was crying, I was shaken, Jacob was in complete shock – he's autistic and has dyspraxia, so he didn't really digest what was going on until he’s come home now.

and he’s been assaulted by a football player, that’s how I see it as a mum.”

"He's very upset about it, and he's decided not to go to the game again." This is his first football game, and this has happened.

"We had an absolutely fantastic day until those last few seconds when they came off the field." It completely ruined our day and left us with a bad taste in our mouths.

"He's a god. Yes, he's not from Everton, and you can support whoever you want, but Ronaldo is a big player. "My son has always said, 'Ronaldo will be there' – he's an icon." I'd understand if Jake was waving it in his face, but he wasn't; he was down by the floor, checking on his injury. "He's an autistic boy," she continued.
