Manchester City needed a win yesterday over Liverpool at the Ethihad Stadium to open a four-point gap at the top of the English Premier League table but had to settle for a lively 2-2 draw.Although the game lived up to expectations with skills, goals and high energy on display from the two sides throughout the entire 90 minutes, with Liverpool responding anytime Manchester City took the lead, there were few decisions that went against Manchester City.Three key decisions helped Liverpool in the game. Thiago Alcantara's second half foul on Kevin De Bruyne should have been enough to get him a second yellow card, likewise Fabinho too, but somehow the referee turned a blind eye to it.Then, in the 63rd minute, Manchester City beautifully carved out the Liverpool high-playing defence and sent through Raheem Sterling on goal. He slotted home superbly to send the Etihad stadium into wild jubilation, but moments later the goal was chunked off for offside by VAR.It was a clear, controversial and debatable call by the video assistant referee and, once again, those decisions are pushing Liverpool towards the title.
