After a difficult match, the 32-year-old talked to the media after they rallied back and defeated Levante.Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has explained what the team must do to continue their winning streak.
On Sunday, the former Arsenal striker was one of Barca's scorers in a 3-2 victory over Levante. This is their seventh win in a row.
"I think we have to take it game by game," Aubameyang said after the match. "As we saw today [Sunday], it was not an easy game. It will be impossible to win games if we do not put up the necessary effort, which is why I believe we must concentrate on each game individually. But we are content; we are second, which is quite important to us."
The Gabonese international stated that he is happy to be a key member of the Barcelona squad and that he is contributing as much as he wanted when he signed with them.
He continued, "I guess I can only thank the guys."
"I am delighted to assist the team with goals because I told you when I arrived that I would do everything I could to assist the squad and score goals, and that is exactly what I am doing. Barcelona has been on a roll since Xavi Hernandez's arrival, having gone undefeated since losing to Real Betis at Camp Nou on December 4. The defeat against Betis is the club's sole setback since the former midfielder took over the reins as coach.Since then, Barca has won 11 games and drawn four, totaling 37 points out of a possible 45.
The Catalan side was suffering before Xavi joined, but they are now solidly in contention for a Champions League position and are second in La Liga, 12 points behind leaders and archrivals Real Madrid.
Despite the revival, Xavi believes that winning the league title remains a difficult task.
"Winning the league remains a challenge." Madrid is a team that does not make mistakes. If they lose points in the following two weeks...," he observed, reflecting on their match against Levante.
"It was a tough game since Levante press high and play man to man. We played better in the second half, but not well enough — we must improve.
