Chelsea are among the clubs leading the race to arrange a move for Benfica attacker Darwin Nunez in the summer transfer window, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic (subscription needed). He has received a lot of praise for his performances this season, which have drew a lot of attention from all throughout Europe.Nunez is projected to be one of the most significant transfers at the end of the season. The Portuguese club is willing to let him leave this summer, with preliminary talks expected to wrap up in the coming weeks. At the moment, he is being pursued by a number of big European clubs, but the Blues are among the frontrunners for the time being.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also among the favorites to complete a deal this summer, alongside Thomas Tuchel's side. As Aguias is eager to part ways with the Uruguayan for a sum of around €70 million. They also want to complete a move as soon as possible so that they can locate suitable replacements for the forward.

Our pursuit of the 22-year-old would almost certainly imply that some of the unsuccessful transfers will be moved out this summer. After all, it wouldn't make sense to add another centre-forward to our squad when Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku are already available. Given that he has had more than enough time to turn things around at Stamford Bridge, Werner appears to be the most likely candidate to leave after this season. Lukaku could stay beyond this summer, as it would be rash to dismiss him after just one season at the club.

Nunez would be an excellent replacement for a departing player because he can play as a striker as well as an inside forward on the left side. His defensive production by pushing in the attack makes him a stronger potential because it fits Tuchel's 3-4-3 formation tactics.

The South American appears to be on his way to becoming a celebrity, as he just scored a hattrick against Belenenses, guiding his team to a 3-1 victory. He has now scored 31 goals and added three assists in 37 games this season across all competitions.
