Alhaji Mohammed Habib Tijani, Ghana's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, has freely admitted to being a hothead, but has quickly added that it is human to be so.
He also says that he is a politician who formerly worked as a teacher for children and that he is married with children.
The former lawmaker was responding to claims made by certain constituents that he is irritable and attacks those who criticize him verbally or on social media.
“Yes! I have a short fuse. I agree, but there is one thing I believe in: I am a human person and a politician. Keep in mind that before becoming a politician, I was an Islamic cleric, a teacher who has taught youngsters, and I have spouses and children.
I have a family; I am a human being; I respect myself; yet, there are times when you see someone talking to you merely because he thinks you are a politician; he should trash you so that no one will respect you."
According to him, if you insult him verbally, he will insult you back, and he will never deviate from this philosophy.
"I have a set of principles that I will never abandon." I will insult you until the rest of my life if you insult me. That is the story of my life. Because you respect me and I respect you, I will offend you right where you insulted me.
If you offend me, I shall retaliate in equal amount until the end of time. If you send someone to insult me in front of the entire world, I will gladly provide the appropriate insult to the person who will deliver it to you. If you disrespect me, I'll do it a thousand times," he said on Motion TV.
