Manchester United are looking to make a big signing this summer to address their midfield crisis, with one highly-rated Serie A player on their radar.The Red Devils are expected to select Erik Ten Hag in the coming week, and the Dutchman will want defensive reinforcements. Scott McTominay and Fred have been the first-choice pairing under both Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and current interim Ralf Rangnick, and the position has become a concern for the club.Ten Hag might wil try to stir things up. Paul Pogba is also on his way out – possibly back to Juventus, where he signed in 2016 – and United may want to recruit from Italy.
According to La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), United are interested in signing Serbian striker Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford. Maurizio Sarri is said to be in favour of a rebuilding project of his own, which the midfielder's departure may help, with United paying roughly £58 million. Milinkovic-Savic would even get his first-choice squad number, no. 21, with Edinson Cavani due to leave on a free transfer at the end of the current season.PSG are also said to be interested in signing the 27-year-old, who is represented by Mateja Kezman, a former Chelsea striker.
