Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah has instructed trial court judges to rigidly follow the long-standing practice of calling senior lawyers' cases first.
The fatwa was given by the CJ in a circular to judges, however the edict has sparked outrage among some members of the public.
The CJ was worried that the centuries-old ritual was not being followed when he issued his directive.
He claims that following such a tradition allows junior lawyers to learn from their elders, but he fails to assess the practice's impact on justice delivery.
