The Agona West Municipal Assembly, along with the Education Directorate, has made it illegal for churches and other organizations to use classrooms as worship spaces.
The measure is intended to guarantee that school infrastructure, such as classroom equipment, is not mismanaged by church members, as the Assembly would be forced to spend money to repair them in order to extend their lives.
Mr Evans Onomah Coleman, the Agona West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), expressed sadness that most of the tables and chairs given by the Assembly in the schools were destroyed early due to their frequent use by the churches.
This was said by the MCE during a ceremony at the Agona West Assembly grounds, where he delivered 245 pieces of furniture to 29 schools.
Teachers tables, single and dual desks, library seats, book shelves, drawer cabinets, visitors chairs, notice boards, and tables and chairs for lower and upper elementary were all included in the furnishings.
The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) presented the Assembly with the furniture, which would be given to schools to ensure better teaching and learning.
Mr Coleman insisted that the Assembly and the Ghana Education Service (GES) were not attempting to undermine the teaching of God's Word.
He said that the government, led by President Akufo-Addo, has made education a priority in order to make it one of the finest in the country for human resource development.
