103 automobiles without insurance have been detained by the National Insurance Commission (NIC) in partnership with the Nkawkaw Divisional Police's Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD).

This happened during a three-day operation from Tuesday to Thursday as part of their regular quarterly crackdown on uninsured automobiles.

Chief Superintendent Stephen Ahiatafu, the Eastern Regional MTTD Commander, headed the police team.

Some of the drivers of the seized vehicles lacked a driver's license, while others had expired licenses or no insurance. On the first, second, and third days of the operation, 66, 30, and 7 automobiles were impounded, respectively.

Chief Superintendent Ahiatafu, who is in charge of indiscipline, bemoaned the amount of indiscipline displayed by drivers in Nkawkaw and other areas of the region, who, according to him, know what they should do but refuse to do it, endangering their own lives and the lives of passengers.

"The majority of drivers in these and other areas of the region are quite indisciplined; we've been doing awareness programs for a long time, and they know what they should do, but they're just hesitant to do it. Because the Nkawkaw township has so many alternate ways, when they see the cops, they avoid them and take another route because they know they are not doing the proper thing. This puts their lives, as well as the lives of passengers and motorists, at peril "he stated
