The Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference (GCBC) has urged Ghanaians, particularly Christians, to refrain from committing acts of evil during and after this year's Easter celebrations.
"Let us...renew our resolve to reject any acts of evil, including acts of war, conflicts, and other activities, which will lead to the senseless loss of life and the development of avoidable crises," stated the GCBC's President, the Most Rev. Philip Naameh.
"Easter is crucial for us because Jesus Christ's resurrection from the grave is a source of hope and fresh life for Christians, and indeed for all humanity," the statement said.
This year's Easter theme for the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference is "Returning to Galilee, Finding the Path to Peace and Hope in a Time of Crisis."
It urged Christians to consider the resurrection as a message to the rest of the world to do all possible to tear down the obstacles that "kept us divided or separated."
"All of us are encouraged to live and share in God's life of glory in the resurrection, and to find God's road to peace."
"Unfortunately, actions of strife, bloodshed, and division frequently reject the Prince of Peace's offer.
As a result, we see battles, wars, and the tragedies linked with these acts of wickedness all around us," it stated.
