Mr Alexander Akwasi Acquah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has distributed GH151,200 to the 18 electoral zones in his constituency to fund development projects of their choosing.
The MP's share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for 2021 was GH8,400 for each electoral region.
Grass cutting
Mr. Acquah cut sods for the building of different development projects in six electoral zones in the Oda township last Friday, and delivered cheques to assembly members to support the projects.
The first phase of the program's beneficiary electoral areas was Oda Community 2, Srodae, Towobotom, Oda PWD Camp, Aseneye, and Kyeremem Number 2, with projects including a volleyball/tennis/basketball court, potable water, drainage, culverts, and school block renovation.
Address
Mr. Acquah said the gesture fulfilled his campaign commitment to distribute his portion of the DACF fairly across the electoral regions in the constituency to pursue development projects of their choosing to improve the people's quality of life if given the opportunity.
He asked the residents of the beneficiary areas to put the cash to good use and to volunteer community labor on projects to cut costs and improve efficiency.
