A businessman was sentenced to 15 years in jail with hard labor after stealing an unlicensed Toyota Camry worth $72,000.00 from an Accra Circuit Court.
Abu Issah Safianu, alias Exodus, denied collaborating with Yaw Pepprah, who is still at large, to rob George Anang's automobile.
Mr. Anang, the complainant, is a businessman located in Accra, according to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Nyamekye, who told the court presided over by Mrs. Susana Eduful that Safianu is a dealer at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
Peprah and Ernest Kofi Sarkodie, according to the prosecution, were pals. The complainant submitted his unregistered Toyota Camry 2013 model with chassis number 4T1BFIFKXCU576144 worth $72,000.00 to Kwaku Twum.
He claimed Sarkodie contacted the complainant about 4:30 p.m. the same day to say he had sent his son Safianu with the agreed-upon payment for the automobile purchase, but the complainant advised that it was late and he should come the next day.
The prosecution claims that on August 26, 2020, the complainant contacted Twum and told him to drive Safianu to the Prudential Bank Obestebi Lamptey Roundabout branch from Block 'B' Nkrumah's flat in Laterbiokorshie.
Kwaku, a witness in the case, and Kenneth Adrigah picked up Safianu and Peprah at the specified place and drove them to the Bank, according to the report.
According to the prosecution, Safianu sat behind the driver (Twum), while Peprah sat in the front.
