Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are said to agree that the famous actor overreacted when he slapped Chris Rock on the stage during the Academy Awards ceremony.
After Rock made a joke about Jada's hair, despite her having freely disclosed her issues with alopecia, a disorder that causes hair loss, the incident occurred.
Jada recently said on Instagram, "This is a season for healing, and I'm here for it."
According to US Weekly, the couple discussed the situation and agreed that Smith shouldn't have responded inappropriately during the gala.
"It was in the heat of the moment, and he overreacted," an unnamed insider added.
"He and she are both aware of this. They all agree that he reacted inappropriately.
"She isn't one of those women who requires protection. He didn't have to do what he did, and she didn't require his protection. She isn't a shy person.
"She's a powerful woman with strong opinions who can fight her own fights. She will, however, support him."
Smith is expected to obtain professional counseling for stress management by spending time in a rehabilitation clinic.
Meanwhile, Chris Rock performed a surprise show at New York's Comedy Cellar on Tuesday night, although he avoided discussing the incident with Smith.
According to Page Six, Rock added, "Lower your expectations, I'm not going to handle that s*it."
