EC can't hold by-political decision at Assin North - Lawyer

Previous legal counselor for troubled Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, has said the Electoral Commission (EC) can't hold a by-political race following a decision by the Supreme Court.

As indicated by him, when the Supreme Court has not made such decision, not even the Clerk of Parliament can arrange the EC to hold a by-political race.

 

He said it is unreasonable for the Supreme Court to prevent the Assin North MP from addressing the more than 30 thousand constituents in Assin North.

 

"Denying the great individuals of Assin North of a delegate in Parliament is unreasonable. How might you call such a country majority rule when portion of individuals are not addressed," he tested.

 

Mr Amaliba, who is additionally the Director of Legal Affairs for the resistance National Democratic Congress, indicated they could look for audit before the last assurance of the case.
