After Liverpool's goal, Ibrahima Konate equals Harry Kane and Neymar's Champions League record
On Wednesday night, Ibrahima Konate scored his second goal for Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League against Benfica.

Ibrahima Konate's goal against Benfica brought him level with Harry Kane and Neymar in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages over the last five years.
Just after 20 minutes, Konate put Liverpool ahead, but Matias Ramos equalized for Benfica 12 minutes later. It was his second goal of the season, having scored in the first leg of the tie. Konate had given his team the lead last week before they went on to win 3-1, just like he did on Wednesday night.
His two goals have equaled the output of Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Paris Saint-Neymar. Germain's The latter two have struggled to beat the goalkeeper in key games of Europe's premier cup competition for a variety of reasons, ranging from injuries to England captain's failure to qualify for the tournament.
Neymar has not scored in the knockout stages since scoring in both legs of the Round of 16 against Borussia Dortmund during the 2019/20 season. Kane scored against Juventus in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie back in 2018, but the Italians knocked Spurs out with a win in the second leg.
He added another at the same stage the following season, this time against Dortmund, before his team was defeated in the final by Liverpool. The Lilywhites advanced to the knockout stages a year later, but Kane was unable to find the back of the net, and the club has not competed since.
Konate was a £36 million summer signing from RB Leipzig, with the French centre-back proving to be a valuable player throughout the season and scoring important goals in Europe over the last seven days.
