The Ayensuano District Assembly has built and commissioned four new CHPS compounds for inhabitants in four communities in Ayensuano who were having difficulty receiving health care.
Over the years, such villages have been without a health center to handle their health issues, forcing them to travel long distances to Suhum, Asamankese, or Coalter, the district headquarters. Some of the towns that are lucky enough to have medical centers are also housed in outdated, under-resourced structures.
The circumstance makes it difficult for the sick inhabitants, who are mostly farmers, to travel to other cities.
The unpleasant and concerning scenario did not improve the health status and, as a result, lives were lost.
This terrible scenario prompted the Ayensuano District Assembly to act quickly to give CHPS Compounds to villages facing similar difficulties.
Asuboi, Sowatey, Kuano, and Anum Apapam are the communities that would benefit. Each CHPS property has a borehole to ensure that the facilities have access to water 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The DCE for the District, Hon. Josephine Ansah Awuku Nkoom, stated at the commissioning of the Four Projects that the projects were granted in 2021 with a six-month duration but had to be extended due to a number of factors and obstacles.
She did, however, appeal to the facility managers, chiefs, and Assembly members.
