Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey could heal from a thigh injury and return to duty in May, according to a medical specialist.

During Arsenal's 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace on April 4, the 28-year-old suffered a thigh strain.

Partey will be absent for "a few weeks," according to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Partey's thigh injury is similar to one he suffered last season against the Spurs, which forced him to miss several weeks.

"It's a little hazy, but he's suffered a serious injury. We'll continue to assess him, but he'll be out for a few weeks "Arteta remarked.

Sports injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries website, expects that Partey will return sooner than expected based on his past setback.

According to Dinnery, who spoke to Football Insider, "According to what I've heard, it's in the same place as a previous thigh injury from 2020. He got that one in the North London derby, and it lasted for around five weeks."

"In terms of severity, he may return in a similar timeframe if we base it on that. That would, coincidentally, fall on the same weekend as the North London derby."

He said, " "He's visiting with a specialist to see whether there's an underlying problem that could explain why this has resurfaced. He is crucial to Arsenal's success. When he's on the squad, the difference in points per game is night and day."

This season, Partey has been an important part of Arteta's squad. He has made 26 appearances for Arsenal, scoring twice in the process.
