'I asked': Alisson discloses the questions asked Ederson following Manchester City vs Liverpool match on Sunday

Alisson Becker of Liverpool has stated that he did not discuss his last-second goal-line clearance with Manchester City opponent Ederson on Sunday.

Alisson was at the press conference ahead of Liverpool's game against Benfica tomorrow. He responded to press questions on Liverpool FC's YouTube channel.

When asked if the Brazilian goalkeeping rivals had discussed Ederson's careless clearance, Alisson stated that they had reviewed the game as a whole, but not the incident in particular.

"We didn't talk about it at the time, but we did talk a little bit after the game," said the Liverpool goalkeeper. "We discussed how exciting the game was and how good the match was."

Alisson disclosed that he had more important topics to discuss with City’s goalkeeper than football.

"(We talked about) our children as well!" He didn't make the national team the last time, so I asked how his family was doing and that was it, not much about football," he explained.

Alisson's anecdote exemplifies the mutual respect that exists between City and their archrivals, Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp's obvious admiration for one another undoubtedly extends to the players as well.

Many of them, like Alisson and Ederson, are national team teammates. Others, such as Bernardo Silva and Fabinho, are ex-teammates.

Such cordial relationships between rivals may be unsettling to some fans. Respect is the dominant emotion when two teams are so far ahead of the rest and so evenly matched.

It's understandable that Alisson doesn't get along with Ederson. The City goalkeeper has frequently displaced him as Brazil's first-choice goalkeeper.

Ederson has also been Alisson's main rival for individual awards such as Golden Gloves and Team of the Year. Most of the time, Ederson has come out on top in those measurements, as well as with his team, winning more medals.

Ali, on the other hand, is a lover, not a fighter. It speaks volumes about the man's character that he has such a positive relationship with his most direct opponent.
