Mohamed Salah's four-man list of the best goalkeepers he has ever faced includes Gianluigi Buffon.
There haven't been many goalkeepers who have been able to keep the Egyptian winger at bay, especially this season as the Premier League's leading goalscorer, but the Italy legend, who the Liverpool star describes as "unbelievable," was able to frustrate him more than most during his time in Serie A. Salah faced Buffon during his prime at Juventus while at Roma and was in awe of the 44-year-old.
Salah holds Buffon in high regard, but believes Iker Casillas, Alisson, and Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer are not far behind. When asked who the best keeper he has faced was, he told Sky Sports: "I can't choose just one, so I'll give you four. Casillas, Buffon, Alisson, and Neuer I'm sure there are many more great goalkeepers, but I'm forgetting right now. It's difficult to say which one."
Salah faced Casillas in the Champions League at the end of his career, but the Reds talisman was still impressed by the Spaniard. When asked what distinguished the Real Madrid legend, Salah replied, "For the career he had." I played against him when he was at Porto, not when he was at Real Madrid. Salah, on the other hand, believes Buffon, who is still playing for his boyhood club Parma at the age of 44, is in a league of his own. He believes there was an aura around him, and the feeling he got while playing against him was out of this world. He continued, saying: "Buffon was incredible when I played against him in Italy. It's an incredible feeling to be up against him. It's hard to believe he won everything in football during his career."
