Shut season for anglers to begin in July - Fisheries Ministry

 

The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development in a joint effort with the Fisheries Commission has uncovered that it will notice the 2022 shut season from July to August.

 

In an articulation marked and gave by the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mrs Mavis Hawa Koomson on April 12, 2022, it declared July 1 to July 31, 2021 as the shut season period for high quality and semi-modern fishers while modern fishers are to notice the shut season from July 1 to August 31, 2022.

 

The Minister said the recognition of the shut season was as per Section 84 of the Fisheries Act, 2002 (Act 625).

 

"It should be demonstrated that the time of the 2022 shut season was settled on in view of logical proof and partner agreement," she noted.

 

She demonstrated that during the shut season time frame, the Ministry won't supply premix fuel to any arrival ocean side, saying "Inside the one month conclusion, there will be no premix fuel allotment to the Coastal Landing Beach Committees."

 

Shut seasons are seen as an approach to decreasing fishing strain on stocks when they are most useful as far as permitting the fish an opportunity to lay their eggs to supplant the lost populace because of fishing and other regular causes.
