Justice William Atuguba, is a retired Supreme Court of Ghana Judge. He was first enrolled as a magistrate on 3 October 1974. He has worked as a private lawyer, served as a prosecutor, and state attorney, before being appointed as a Supreme Court Judge in 1995 by the late Former President Rawlings. The name “ATUGUBA” became a household name in Ghana in the year 2013 following the 2013 Presidential Election Petition hearing at the Supreme Court.
Justice William Atuguba, in his latest speech has praised the Joynews, for their boldness in Journalism. He said he is happy with the level at which the station has been exposing wrongdoings in the country, and that, it gives him hope of a better future for Ghana.
The retired Justice of the Supreme Court described the Joynews station as bold and fearless in everything they do and that, he has recently seen that, the station have always been very daring, in trying to find out the truth and presenting it to the public.
Justice Atuguba was the acting Chief Justice of Ghana from May 25, 2016 until June 3, 2016 when Justice Georgina Theodora Woode was outside the country on official duties. He was a judge for 44 years and a Supreme Court judge from 1995 to 2018, a total of almost 23 years, making him one of the longest serving members of the Supreme Court of Ghana.
Justice William Atuguba, throughout his career has been a private legal practitioner, Magistrate, Prosecutor, Supreme Court Judge and at some point, an acting Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana.
