Mr Jonathan Quaye, a Ghanaian Tandem pilot, will be among the 12 pilots flying passengers for the first time in the Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival's history.
From April 14 to April 18, 2022, Mr Quaye and 11 other foreign national pilots will fly passengers from the Odweanoma mountings in Atibie, Kwahu.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday in Accra, Mr Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Head, Corporate Affairs, Ghana Tourism Authority, revealed this.
He named the other 11 pilots as Ed Stein of the United States, Chuck Smith of the United States, Blake Pelton of the United States, Cherie Silvera of the United States, Tim Meehan of the United States, Marc Theissen of Germany, Hagen Muhlich of Germany, Kabisch Raymond Chase of the United States, Jorge Reategui of Peru, Eduardo Reategui of Peru, and Lionel Mury of Switzerland.
He said that the celebration, which had been dormant for two years owing to the COVID-19 Pandemic, had grown into a major highlight of the Easter Festival, receiving international acclaim.
Mr. Kusi said it had been organized in the past under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the various Assemblies in Kwahu East, West, and South, as well as the Kwahu Traditional Authority, and that "this year is no different."
"Other festival events include a Hot Air Balloon Ride, the Kwahu Marathon, a food bazaar, Kwahu Dwaso, Pool Parties, Musical Concerts, and a Church Service," he said.
This year's recommended charge for a paragliding ride is GHS550, which includes an Antigen Test for passengers, he said.
