The Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare, contacted the victim of a death threat by a Lebanese national whose sword-wielding threats went viral on social media on Tuesday.
The Ghana Police Service revealed the arrest of one Osman Brustani on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, in connection with a video in which he was seen threatening the life of an unsighted victim.
According to the police statement, the IGP initially called the victim over the phone before paying a personal visit to the nameless victim.
According to the statement, the IGP "reached out to the victim by telephone yesterday, Tuesday, April 12th, 2022, and he looked traumatized by the occurrence." The victim has been offered psychological support by a clinical psychologist from the Police Hospital as a consequence of the IGP's order. The IGP then paid a personal visit to the victim today, Wednesday, April 13th, 2022."
Meanwhile, the suspect is in police custody and will be subjected to the legal system's due procedure.
