Failed parliamentary candidate for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese and former deputy information Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has attacked president Akuffo Addo over the E-levy debacle. Speaking on news file on Joy news, an Accra based station, he wondered why the government will not cut down on its superfluous expenditure and save them to develop the country, but is rather keen on taxing Ghanaian to the kill.

Cataloguing what he calls superfluous expenditure, he stated that government is spending a whooping five hundred millions cedis more than it did last year at the office of government machinery alone.

He said to add more salt to injuries, the president prefers to hire a 14000 dollar per hour jet for his travels when our presidential jet can equally be used. He then asked, how can you do all these things and turn around to ask the poor Ghanaian taxpayer to pay more taxes for it? You chose to live like an Arabian King and expect us to pay more taxes, he retorted.

He further posited that the government have mismanaged the economy leading to a ballooned debt and large budget deficit. He said the international community have no confidence in the government's ability to pay back loans it will will contract due to policy credibility, citing the downgrading of the economy by international rating agencies such as Fitch and Moody as examples.
