According to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department's (MTTD) Road Traffic Crash and Casualty Situation Report, 734 people died in road incidents between January and March 2022.
In the same time period, 4,025 people were injured in various ways, according to the data.
There were 3,932 collisions reported, involving 6,587 cars and 712 pedestrians.
The number of instances reported in 2022 is down 1.92 percent from the number of cases reported in 2021 (4,009) for the same time period.
In 2021, a total of 6,830 cars were involved in collisions, which is a 3.52 percent reduction from 2022. In terms of pedestrian knockdowns, 724 people were engaged in 2021, down 1.66 percent from 2022.
2,210 commercial vehicles, 2,948 private cars, and 1,429 motorbikes were among the total number of vehicles involved in the 2022 accidents.
Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Eastern are the top three regions with the highest number of crashes.
Greater Accra saw 1,661 collisions, accounting for 42.24 percent of all collisions.
The Ashanti area had 918 crashes, accounting for 23.35 percent, while the Eastern region had 452 crashes, accounting for 11.50 percent.
The three regions with the fewest crashes were Savannah, the North East, and Oti.
