If Leicester City and West Ham United win their respective European crowns, the Premier League may have as many as nine teams in Europe next season.
Both teams are two games away from a European final and have a great chance to win a trophy this season.
With a 3-0 win over Lyon (4-1 on aggregate), the Hammers qualified for the Europa League semi-finals, while Brendan Rodgers' side made a remarkable comeback win against PSV Eindhoven to qualify for the Europa Conference League semi-final.
And if both clubs can go all the way in the league, there are lots of possibilities for English sides to qualify for Europe next season.
The Premier League has six seats available (four Champions League, one Europa League, and one Europa Conference League), however if West Ham and Leicester win their respective European crowns without qualifying for Europe domestically, a pair of additional berths will be available for English teams.
It's worth noting that Leicester and West Ham's European efforts will have no bearing on any club that qualifies via league position, and there will be no extra berths - or moving up a spot - if either team finishes in the top six and wins their respective European tournament.
West Ham have slipped out of the top four battle towards the conclusion of the season, with Tottenham and Arsenal ahead of them in the table, but winning the Europa League would assure them a place in the Champions League next season, allowing five clubs to compete in Europe's premier competition. By winning the Europa Conference League, Leicester would qualify for next season's Europa League.
Because Leicester is now in ninth place in the Premier League and is unlikely to finish in the top six, if they win the Conference League, there is a significant likelihood that at least one additional Premier League club will be in Europe. However, considering West Ham's present league position, eighth place is far from a foregone conclusion.
