Spokesperson of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu has called on the electoral management body of the state to openly state it's position on the Assin North Member of Parliament's case at the Supreme Court.
Speaking on GTV's morning show, the Islamic cleric indicated his displeasure with what has been happening especially in Parliament and matters regarding the Supreme Court restricting the Assin North MP from carrying himself as legislator.
"I have a big problem with why this issue must arise. Especially when the whole EC had cleared him and approved that he can contest as the Parliamentary candidate for the Assin North constituency".
He called on the election management body to explicitly state their position on the Supreme Court's ruling restraining Mr. James Gyekye Quayson from carrying out his parliamentary duties pending a constitutional interpretation of allegiance.
"What is the position of the EC regarding this? Are they also supporting his now denial of carrying out his parliamentary duties? The EC must come on board and tell us why they gave him clearance to contest. The integrity and respectability of the EC must be maintained".
The Assin North MP has been stripped off his position as the representative of his people in the law making chamber pending a final determination by the Supreme Court.
