Thomas Tuchel has apologized to Conor Gallagher for the decision that would prevent him from playing in the FA Cup semi-final against his parent club Chelsea this weekend. Crystal Palace will head to Wembley Stadium on Sunday in the hopes of causing a massive upset, but they will be without their star midfielder, who is ruled out of the match.Because Gallagher is on loan from Chelsea, he is not allowed to play against the Blues in any competition this season.

That didn't stop Palace from making a cheeky request to play Gallagher at Wembley, but the European champions immediately turned it down.

Tuchel has now recounted how he apologized to Gallagher after running into the England international while out for supper in a local restaurant. "I had the opportunity to chat with Conor. I could sense his annoyance. We met by chance in a café a few weeks ago "Tuchel said."When the topic of competition came up, I apologized because I am aware of his competitive nature. We're in it to win it."

Chelsea's decision irritated Palace manager Patrick Vieira, who has managed to bring the best out of Gallagher this season at Selhurst Park.

Gallagher getting valuable experience by playing in a game of this magnitude, according to the Frenchman, would benefit Chelsea. "It's not the ideal guideline since Conor is the only one who will lose," Vieira explained.

"Paying that sort of money for that kind of game, the importance of it, it's an experience the player is missing, and I'm sorry for him."

"He has played every game so far, and he is the only player who deserves to be in the semi-final based on his performances." I'm sorry he won't be able to participate.
