The Mpraeso Circuit Court sentenced a 30-year-old petrol station manager of Infin Ghana Limited's Kwahu-Tafo branch to 120 months in prison for stealing GH398,545 from his company.
Ernest Boakye, who had pleaded not guilty to theft, was sentenced after the court, presided over by Stephen Kumi, found that the prosecution had established his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Deterrent
Mr Kumi said Boakye deserved to be punished to act as a deterrence to staff who participate in fraudulent dealings, which might ultimately collapse enterprises and demotivate others from starting new businesses, increasing the already high unemployment rate.
