Bayern coach Nagelsmann receiving death threats after Chukwueze's Champions League winner for Villarreal.
The 34-year-old manager stated that he and his mother have received over 450 death threats.Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of Bayern Munich, has disclosed that he has received death threats on social media after his team was eliminated from the Champions League by Villarreal.
The German side was behind 1-0 going into Tuesday's quarter-final match, but Robert Lewandowski's goal early in the second half of the second leg tied the aggregate scores.
Bayern's chances of making the semifinals were dashed in the 88th minute as Samuel Chukwueze equalized for 1-1 (2-1 on aggregate), ensuring Villarreal's first trip in the final four since 2006."I'm aware that I'll face criticism from all sides at some point - that's to be expected, and I'm prepared to deal with it. It's not easy, though, with 450 death threats on Instagram "In an interview, Nagelsmann stated.
Nagelsmann is in his first season as Bayern Munich's manager, having taken over from Hansi Flick in the summer. His team leads the Bundesliga by nine points and appears to be on the verge of retaining their crown.
"It's one thing if people want to kill me, but they also target my own mother, who doesn't care about football," the ex-RB Leipzig midfielder continued.
"I'm baffled." People lose all decorum as soon as the TV is turned off. The weird part is that they believe they are in the right."
"I would never be done with it," Nagelsmann remarked when asked if he had contemplated taking legal action. Regardless of whether we win or lose, I get them after each and every game."When we play with a back three, there are more death threats than when we play with a back four, and obviously there are a couple more everytime we lose."
Nagelsmann's club will play in the Bundesliga on Sunday against relegation-threatened Arminia Bielefeld, hoping to put Tuesday's loss behind them.
